Aim and Scope
Future Cities and Environment is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing engineering knowledge that addresses the environmental challenges of cities and their long-term sustainability. The journal provides a platform for high-quality original research in architecture and architectural engineering, civil and structural engineering, energy and power technology, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, and renewable energy, sustainability and the environment. We welcome contributions that present innovative technologies, methods, and strategies to improve the environmental performance of buildings, infrastructure, and energy systems. Areas of focus include: - Engineering design, analysis, and performance evaluation of sustainable buildings and infrastructure - Advanced energy systems, including renewable energy integration, storage, and smart technologies - Experimental and computational studies in environmental and mechanical engineering - Civil and structural engineering solutions for resilient, low-carbon development - Architectural and engineering innovations that support sustainable design and construction We prioritise contributions that present rigorous experimental investigations, analytical and computational modelling, engineering design innovations, and applied research with demonstrable technical outcomes. Critical reviews and case studies are considered where they provide substantial engineering insight or performance evaluation.
The journal is published online as a continuous volume and issue throughout the year. Articles are made available as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in getting content publically available.
Special collections of articles are welcomed and will be published as part of the normal issue, but also within a separate collection page.
Future Cities and Environment is an open access journal that provides free, immediate, and unrestricted online access to all its published content for readers around the world.
- This journal provides immediate open access to its content under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 license. Authors who publish with this journal retain all copyrights and agree to the terms of the above-mentioned CC BY 4.0 license.
- Open access publishing services, which include end-to-end support–from research integrity and peer review, through to innovations in technology and artificial intelligence as well as global dissemination – are supported through Article Processing Charges (APCs). APCs enable the long-term stability of our program, and facilitate equal opportunity to seek, share and create knowledge that benefits all society without restriction.
- Open access to the results of publicly funded research is of huge value, offering significant social and economic benefits. The open access publishing model, defined by the Berlin Agreement in 2003, improves the pace, efficiency, and value of research to society. By its very nature, it improves the visibility of authors' work and enables better scholarly exchange, and therefore, the potential impact of that work. By eliminating the barriers that block the free distribution of knowledge, open access enables scientists to collaborate better, innovate faster, and deliver the solutions we need for healthy lives on a healthy planet.
Cerebration Science Publishing is committed to making content discoverable and accessible through indexing services. As such all content is archived around the world to ensure long-term availability.
The journal is indexed by the following services:
Additionally, the journal is registered with Sherpa Romeo, and all article metadata and references are deposited with Crossref.
As the journal grows, additional indexes will be added. If the journal is not indexed by your preferred service, please contact us or alternatively by making an indexing request directly with the service.
The journal platform permits readers to leave comments and in-browser annotations via hypothes.is. Readers will require a hypothes.is account to create annotations, and will have the option to make these public or private. Comments may be moderated by the journal, however, if they are non-offensive and relevant to the publication subject, comments will remain online without edit.
