Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
• The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
• The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
• The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the
text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
• Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
• The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
General Instructions
Authorship
The Future Cities and Environment published by Cerebration Science Publishing, adheres to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines, which
require that authorship be based on the following four criteria:
1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
2. Drafting the work or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content; AND
3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved.
Contributors who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged separately. For further guidance, please refer to the ICMJE recommendations.
Please ensure that the authorship is finalized before submission, as changes post-submission require significant justification.
Paper Submission
Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts through the Future Cities and Environment online submission system. This system ensures streamlined processing and tracking of your submission.
Paper Acceptance
The decision to publish is made by the Editor-in-Chief, following recommendations from the Editorial Board Members.
Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author and should be returned within five working days of receipt. Corrections at proof stage should be limited to typesetting errors and factual corrections; substantial revisions to the text are not normally accepted at this stage. No charge is made for corrections. Authors should review proofs carefully, as this is the final opportunity to correct the article before publication.
Order of Parts Submissions consist of two separate files. Title page (not sent to reviewers), containing: title; all authors' full names, institutional affiliations, full postal address, country and contact details; designation of the corresponding author; author contributions; conflict of interest statement; funding information; acknowledgements; and biographical sketches. Anonymised manuscript (sent to reviewers), in this sequence: 1. Title of the article 2. Abstract (200-300 words) 3. Keywords 4. Main text 5. Tables, each starting with a caption 6. Figure captions 7. List of symbols and abbreviations, if necessary 8. Data availability statement, if applicable 9. Reference list 10. Original figures The anonymised manuscript must contain no author names, affiliations, contact details, acknowledgements or funding statements. Refer to your own previous work in the third person, and remove identifying information from the document's file properties.
Title
The title should be concise and clearly describe the content of the paper, using keywords appropriate for retrieval purposes.
Author Names and Affiliations
FCE policy requires that all contributors who have significantly participated in the technical aspects of the paper be recognized as co-authors or acknowledged. For multi-authored
papers, the corresponding author will be the first author unless otherwise indicated.
Include the following for each author:
• Full Name (First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name)
• Institutional Affiliation (Department, University, etc.)
• Full Postal Address
• Country
• Contact Information (Telephone, Fax, Email)
Abstract
The abstract should be 200-300 words and include:
1. A clear indication of the objective, scope, and results of the paper.
2. Keywords and phrases for indexing, abstracting, and retrieval purposes.
The abstract should be informative yet concise, enabling readers to quickly ascertain the paper’s relevance to their interests.
References
References should be listed at the end of the manuscript and numbered in the order they appear in the text. Follow these formats:

These articles present original research and should include the most recent and relevant references in the field. The structure should be:

Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright in their work. No transfer of copyright to the publisher takes place at any stage.
On acceptance, authors grant Future Cities and Environment a non-exclusive license to publish, and the article is made available to the public under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, anyone is free to share the article in any medium or format, and to adapt, remix and build upon it, for any purpose including commercially, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated. Because the license is non-exclusive, authors remain free to reproduce, distribute, translate, adapt and commercially exploit their own work without seeking permission from the publisher, and to deposit any version of the article in any repository, preprint server, or personal or institutional website, at any time, with no embargo. On submission, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, is not under consideration elsewhere, and contains no libellous, unlawful or infringing material, and that all co-authors have approved submission under these terms.
Privacy Statement
The names and email addresses provided to the Future Cities and Environment will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be shared with third parties.
